The Promise Ring

The Promise Ring is a band made of genius. They haled form the Midwest; Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Some great names in area of early indie emo; Davey Von Bohlen from Cap' n Jazz, Jason Gnewikow of None Left Standing, and Dan Didier and Scott Beschta of Ceilishrine. The band was started as a side project in 1995 by Davey Von Bohlen during his last few months in Cap n jazz. In 1996 they releases their first full-length album, titled 30 Degrees Everywhere on Jade Tree Records. Following the first release is Nothing Feels Good in 1997 which gained the band a larger following and rave reviews. Following other releases they disbanded after 2002s release of wood/water.

The band gives off a really great sound. They are pioneers of the softer side of the genre. You can really tell that Von Bohlen was trying to break out for a more poetic role in his music career and in my opinion it panned out well.
